Byron Bay

In the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales, Byron Bay is a hotspot for holidaymakers, thanks to its natural blessings of climate, beaches and scenery. Also endearing it to visitors is the community spirit and many artists, writers and filmmakers who reside there and give the town a creative flair. Byron Bay’s town centre is just behind the beach on Johnson Street. There is an array of restaurants with cuisines from everywhere and anywhere, surf shops and the usual retail fare, and the town is packed with accommodation for the summer influx! It also contains galleries and studios where you can view and buy the work of the Bay’s many artists. Byron Main Beach fronts the town, and is a great spot for swimming, surfing and people watching. At the eastern end of town is the Byron headland, home to the Cape Byron State Conservation Area and the elegant white Cape Byron Lighthouse. The less-crowded Tallow Beach is found across the headland from Byron Main Beach, and to the south of there is the quiet community of Suffolk Park where the pace of life is a bit slower than in the main town. Byron Bay is the perfect place for a beachy holiday, and to kick off a beachy road trip! It is not far from the major airports at Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and provides a great starting point to head down the coast of New South Wales to Sydney or further to Canberra or Melbourne.
