The Phillip Island Grand Prix 2014 is set to take place at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. The event will run from the 17th-19th of October, and it is the major motorcycle event on Australia’s calendar- a stop on the MotoGP World Championships, and the only one in Oceania.

The new track upgrade was put to the test in the 2013 circuit, and proved itself to be one of the world's smoothest and fastest driving surfaces. Lap records were broken in last year's round and many drivers were heard to praise the results of the three million dollar upgrade which took place in time for the event. The process included a 3 dimensional laser survey, 5,000 tonnes of secret-recipe ashpalt and 70 contractors, with the end result of a track smoother than a baby’s bum.

Again in 2014, the 3rd bend on the track will be known as Stoner Bend after two-time MotoGP champion, Australia’s own Casey Stoner who is retired from the sport. The 27-year old chose the corner as his namesake himself, as it is his favourite part of the course.

On the provisional entry list is Australian Broc Parkes for the Paul Bird Motorsport team, who is known for his success in the Supersport World Championships. This year will be his first competing in the Moto GP.

With the new track and a great round of racing on the horizon, Phillip Island Grand Prix 2014 is set to go off! Motorsport fans, don’t miss out.
